Description:
152 popular myths exploded!
This book is a bit of a mixture. In one sense it is a clever way to begin to get to grips with Interpretations in history. It takes 152 events, topics and ideas, and explores the conflicting points of view, usually trying to take apart the 'status quo' version and suggest viable alternatives.
There must be a logic to the way the 152 myths are organised, but to me it is unclear - surely chronological order or by country/area would have made searching easier. And some of the 'myths' are dealt with in too short a space to really do justice to the historical arguments involved.
Nevertheless, if you are looking for a gentle introduction into the world of alternatives, interpretations and wanting guidance for further reading on the matter, then this makes an ideal starter. Pupils, if they read it, will be much more reluctant to ask you what is the right answer!
