Review:
Working in Redcar & Cleveland, I have established close links with the Museum, and have always found them very helpful, they have provided far too many educational activities to mention, in the region of about four new activities each month! They will also visit schools, with workshops and Resource boxes, which can also be loaned. In fact the educational service puts us to shame in that we could spend all our time using them. The Museum itself is on the three floors of the Hall, and is diverse enough to provide an interest for KS2, KS3 & KS4 students. The Second World War section is particularly useful, with a mixture of static displays and activities. The Museum is especially strong in showing life in the local area, with the subjects of industry and leisure in the Redcar & Cleveland covered well. The museum is continuing to grow, with changes planned. The Café is part of the separate education centre, thus a visit can be easily sectionalised, allowing a good focus, in fact I would say that almost all aspects of a visit are covered, even the playground could allow pupils to blow off their excitement before returning to school. The separate Owl Centre has an interesting selection of birds of Prey, which could allow for cross curricular links.
