Description:
A digitext resource, for developing literacy, based on the life of Walter Tull
Most of the digitexts are fiction-based, but this one is based on the life of Walter Tull, whose father came here from the West Indies in 1876. Walter became a professional footballer, playing for England, before joining the army in 1914 and becoming the first ever black army officer. He was killed in France in 1918. The CD is really targeted at Year 6, but the diary entries provide an excellent way to stimulate work in Year 9, especially for the less able. Comes complete with detailed teaching notes both in writing and on the CD.
