A superb place to imagine the dangers faced by early shipping - the Blackstone Rocks and the Skerry Sands make this a treacherous coast. The tour of the lighthouse shows both the technology and the social history, right up to the 1960s. The lighthouse was finally automated in the 1990s, so you can have the whole area to yourselves - the keepers' houses are now holiday cottages!
