Description:
The Minster dates from Saxon times, although the Nave was completed in 1150 in the Romanesque style.

Review:
A light and airy Minster, not made a cathedral until 1884. The Minster was severely damaged during the Civil War, when Cromwell stabled his cavalry in the Chapterhouse - you can still see the damage on many of the carved faces there. The roof was destroyed by fire in 1711, and most of the stained glass is Victorian, yet you can see Saxon floor tiles as well as a Restoration font.
