Review:
The museum covers the history of the regiment from the Napoleonic wars to the post war period, with the main emphasis on the first and second world wars. The excellent educational department has created a valuable teaching aid. The Museum’s association with Terry Deary ( Horrible Histories), has created an inspiring and stimulating environment which has still retained it sense of purpose. A visit to the museum would be useful to pupils of all ages. Through contacting the educational department, special arrangements can be made for pupils to handle artefacts; to dress up as a Great War Tommie, or shoulder a rifle (photo’s can be used for class display). The main exhibition is very informative, especially with the additional sound clips, which can also be accessed through the website.
