Review:
On 17th October 2003 The Endeavour sailed up the River Tees to Middlesbrough, marking the 275th anniversary of Captain Cook’s birth. The Birthplace museum had been renovated for this anniversary, changing it completely. The Museum has been modernised, and like many museums now has a mixture of film, activities and exhibits. The education department has done well to create rich resources, although there is a heavy KS2 bias. The museum is certainly worth the relatively cheap entrance fee, and will make an excellent focus for work on Captain Cook. A bonus is the setting, the large Stewart Park, gives plenty of room to run off some energy as well as a small zoo.
