Description:
Autobiography of a Camp survivor and step sister to Anne Frank.
The Geiringer family lived in Austria, in 1938, like many Jewish families, they fled from the Nazis, to Amsterdam. Like the Frank family, Eva and her family went into hiding, and were betrayed and arrested. At the age of 15 Eva found herself in Auschwitz, Eva and her mother survived. After the War Eva’s mother, Mutti, married Otto Frank, the references to Anne and Otto add a symmetry to Eva’s story. I have met Eva Schloss, and found her modest and polite, this book demonstrates these characteristics to the full. The value of this book lies in the ordinariness of Eva’s experiences, the gradual build up of discrimination and horror is explained simply, making the consequences even more horrific; as you can see how it affected ordinary people, just like yourself.
