Review:
Built between 1819 and 1822, to serve the Duke of Bedford's new London estates, the 'New Church' as it was called, figures in Charles Dickens' writing, as it was his parish church. It is the premier example of Georgian church architecture, very little changed inside or out. The design is based on Classical Greek buildings, and reflects the preoccupations of the period, as well as the predominance of God in everyday life.
A superb building, and a wonderful place to spend a few moments of peace in a very busy London!
