Description:
Supplementary material to add to your teaching of Key Stage 3
According to the publishers this book 'offers stimulating new material to keep your students interested in history' and 'provides material which helps you focus on reinforcing your pupils' historical skills and allows for progression.'
This text book is split into three sections - Historical Skills; Digging Deeper; and Themes. Each provides 3-4 pages of text and activities centred around a given theme -the Zulu War, Sweeney Todd, The slums of London and Manchester. Each uses pictures and sources, with activities designed to help pupils understand. It provides depth - the kind of detail you used to get in text books - and activities, but many are competent rather than stimulating. Well laid out, with large illustrations, but ultimately this is not so very different from other books, and I'm unsure whether it really provides stimulating new materials.
