The Impact of Empire
Title:The Impact of Empire
Author: Jamie Byrom, Michael Riley, Chris Culpin
Publication date: 2004
ISBN: 0719585619
Keystage:Keystage 3
Description:
A world study of the British Empire 1585 to the present.

Another in the 'This is History' series for Key Stage 3.While you might disagree with some of the contents - or more likely some of the omissions! - this is a carefully thought out and structured approach to the study of Empire, firmly grounded in the skills elements of Key Stage 3. A really nice touch is the concluding activity, which actually asks pupils to be critical of the contents, and suggest alternatives.
The language is entirely appropriate, the pages colourful with plenty of large illustrations, yet the activities are thought-provoking and demanding. An excellent book for the classroom.
