Description:
Castle originally built by William the Conqueror, completely dominates the town from above.
Review:
You can walk round most of the walls, and see clearly why William had 166 houses demolished to build the castle here! Lincoln's copy of Magna Carta is here, along with a small exhibition putting it into context. You can also visit the Victorian Prison in the Bailey. Frequent Living History events are held throughout the year - phone for details. A simple but evocative way to discover why castles were built in the Middle Ages.
