Description:
The first volume in a new series for Key Stage 3 by popular author Ben Walsh. Covers the Roman Empire, Medieval England and African Empires - a complete Year 7 course. There is a supporting CD-ROM.
This is an attractively laid out text, with lots of big illustrations and computer-generated graphics. It is also a brave attempt to move away rom the normal topics and to encourage teachers to explore less popular areas of study. There are lots of interesting and exciting activities, and I particularly liked the way several of them build on one another, so the main activity is 'spread' over several smaller ones - anything that helps get away from the two page spread idea! Just occasionally I think the text is a liitle complicated for many Year 7 pupils, but the activities more than make up for that. I look forward to seeing Year 8 and Year 9 too.
