Consolidation of learning
It is important to give pupils the chance to stop and reflect on what they have learned.
When you finish a topic you have spent several lessons on - for instance the Home Front in WW2 - ask pupils to take a clean page in their exercise book - or a blank piece of paper, and choose ONE image and 200 words to sum up the most important things they have learned. Then share these around the class. A perfect plenary lesson at the end of a topic or series of lessons.
