Artefacts in the classroom
Carefully select some cups, mugs and plates (car boots and charity shops are an excellent source for these) and smash each one into bits. Ask pairs or groups of pupils to reassemble each one, and to tell you what they can discover about their bits. An easy starter, and a good way into archaeology, evidence or interpretations.
